Hello!
My name is John, also known as BS-Sensei. I’m many things: an Orthodox Christian ☦️, a husband, a dog-dad, and a PhD Candidate (soon to be Doctor!) who focuses on complex systems research, specifically statistical modeling of complex systems. I’m also a programmer, and have way too many hobbies to count including woodworking, leatherworking, MTG, 3D printing, DMing for TTRPGs, and cooking. I’ve also helped a few people write and worldbuild for different fantasy novels and IPs, mostly the Edict of Alchemy: my wife’s debut novel that is currently in the query process.
I’ve decided to dedicate this site for general use: getting ideas out there, discussing some theological musings (I’m not a priest, please take everything I write with a massive grain of salt because it might be wrong, not just the theological stuff but especially that!), short primers about my research/programming, showcasing some of my maker projects, or even tips and tricks on dungeon master and worldbuilding/writing stuff. I don’t like most social media (I may make an exception for YouTube/Instagram later…maybe), so all my life updates, work-related stuff, and other things can be found here.
I’ve linked in the navbar a few things of import: namely my Zotero library for anyone interested, my resume/CV, a list of my manuscripts, my git provider of choice for my various config files and scripts I think people may find useful, my list of curated recipes on a Notion site (which I will likely migrate here at some point), and a donate page if you decide that anything I’ve written has helpful enough to warrant it. I also have a stickied post that has a list of all the books I’m currently reading or have read.
With all that out of the way, please look around and leave a comment on my posts, I love discussing with people about nearly anything, and I’m looking forward to hearing your takes!
